- If someone indicated that you needed the jumper, then it isn't going
- to work without it. I did several of those conversions back when 2.04
- was "state of the art", which it isn't now. As was explained in a
- previous messages of this thread, the easiest way is to interpose a
- chip socket to handle part of the conversion.

- This *conversion* is required because the rom itself grew, requiring
- a new footprint on the board to handle the additional address lines
- and mode control pins since this is also one of the *few*
- applications that are served by a rom *more* than 8 bits wide. In
- this case, 16. But the new chip required a pin to control whether it
- was read as 8 bit or 16 bit per read. 2 more pins, and you can see
- that some re-arrangements are required.
